Compass Fiduciary Group, LLC

Probate Estate Administration in Phoenix, Arizona

Compass Fiduciary Group provides professional estate administration services as personal representative for probate estates in Phoenix and Maricopa County. We work with families and their attorneys to organize the estate’s affairs and carry out the responsibilities of an accepted appointment.

When Compass Can Help

Administering an estate can be difficult while a family is grieving or managing responsibilities from another city. Compass can discuss a proposed appointment when a professional personal representative is needed, a nominated individual is unable or unwilling to serve, or an estate requires independent administration.

Attorneys, family members, and other interested parties may contact us about a proposed appointment or an existing estate. We review the authority, documents, conflicts, scope, and capacity needed before accepting a matter. An inquiry alone does not authorize Compass to act for the estate.

What Estate Administration Involves

The work varies with the appointment and the estate. Within the authority granted, responsibilities may include:

  • Identifying and safeguarding estate assets and organizing available financial and property records.
  • Coordinating inventories, valuations, property needs, and professional assistance as appropriate.
  • Maintaining records of receipts, expenses, and estate administration activity.
  • Working with probate counsel on the administration process, creditor matters, and required filings.
  • Coordinating with tax professionals and other advisers where their expertise is needed.
  • Communicating with heirs and beneficiaries and preparing for appropriate distributions and completion of administration.

Working With Probate Counsel and Families

Compass serves in the fiduciary role. Probate counsel provides legal advice and handles legal matters within the attorney’s engagement. We coordinate records, information requests, and administrative tasks so each professional can address the part of the matter for which they are responsible.

For heirs and beneficiaries, we aim to make the administrative process understandable and keep communication focused on the estate’s circumstances and next steps. Timing depends on factors such as asset information, creditor issues, tax work, disputes, and court requirements. We do not promise a fixed completion date or an immediate distribution.

How an Engagement Begins

  1. Initial discussion: Explain the situation, the assistance requested, and whether probate counsel or a personal representative is already involved.
  2. Review: We identify the documents and information needed to evaluate the proposed role, authority, conflicts, and scope.
  3. Terms and appointment: If Compass accepts the matter, fees, engagement terms, and appointment requirements are addressed before work begins.
  4. Administrative priorities: We coordinate records, professional contacts, property concerns, and deadlines within the accepted role.

Prepare for the First Conversation

Be ready to provide a general description of the estate, the decedent’s state and county of residence, your relationship to the matter, and the assistance you are seeking. Tell us whether a will is available, whether a probate case has been opened, who is currently appointed, and which attorney is involved.

Identify approaching deadlines and urgent property concerns. Compass will explain which documents are needed and how to provide them. Please do not enter Social Security numbers, passwords, complete account numbers, or sensitive personal records into the initial contact form.
